Sockets and Runewords

You might encounter items in the realms with a number of
sockets placed on them. Each socket will fit a rune (The same
runes used for spells). To place a rune in a weapon, make sure
they are both in your inventory and type '
combine [weapon] [rune]
'.Adding a rune in a weapon will give it a bonus. (For example, adding an 'Air' rune will cause it to do +5 additional air damage).
To see how many sockets (if any) an item has, '
cast identify
' on it, or just look at it. - Runewords
- Note that in certain combinations the runes will transform and form a word, imbuing the weapon with some form of special magic. For example:
